0 How to set a password for Guest account.

A guest account provides access to the computer for any user who does not have a user account on the computer. By default you do not require any password or, you can not create any password for this account either. Still if you wish to set a password for this guest account then you can easily do so.

Steps to set password for Guest Account:

  • Log in as administrator (not necessary).
  • Open command prompt using administrator privileges from start menu (necessary).
  • In the window, type net user guest *  and press enter. There should be a gap between guest and *.
  • It will ask to type a password for guest. Type it then it'll ask you to retype. 
After that you'll see a line saying THE COMMAND COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY.

To check if the password has changed, go to Control Panel > User Account > Guest Account.
You'll see that it shows Guest Account Password Protected !

To remove password follow the steps below:

  • type net user guest *
  • Then leave the password blank and press enter twice.

After it has completed successfully, go and check the User Account and you'll see that it has no password.
